Sark's Independent Policing Panel was formed on the 1st January 2017. The Panel is made up of Non Chief Pleas members of the Sark community who have been recruited by advertising and interview. This is an unpaid position.

The purpose of the Panel is to act as a conduit between the Constables and Chief Pleas.

The Panel monitors the Service Level Agreement between Guernsey Police and Chief Pleas. The SLA is essential to the work of the Constables, ensuring that liaison, assistance and advice are available at all times to back up their work and that suitable training is carried out.

The Panel is also responsible for the handling of any complaints which may be received against the Constable. Anyone wishing to make a complaint must complete the Complaint Form. This can either be obtained from the Constables office or by downloading it here.

The Panel is made of the following members

  • Simon Adams
  • Peter Cole
  • John Hunt (Chairman)
  • Jacqui Rogers (Deputy Chairman)
  • Mary Teer
  • Linda Williams

We expect our Constables to –

  • Act with Honesty, Integrity, Fairness and Impartiality.
  • Treat members of the Public with respect
  • Not to abuse their powers and authority
  • Act in a manner that does not discredit or undermine public confidence in the Constables.
